TASK ONE: Investigating APA

Bibliography

A bibliography is a list of websites, books, magazines, videos or any other kind of media used or referred to by a person writing something. Bibliographies used to be just a list of references used, but these days, they often include information on other resources such as Interviews, Video tapes, audio tapes, Computer Resources and speeches. A bibliography usually has a source name, date of a written thing or interview, name of a written thing or resource and place of a written thing or interview.

Why is it Important?

The bibliography allows the reader to find the sources used by the person who write it and review to see if they have just copied and pasted or if they have just gathered information over the site. This documentation of ideas is a much needed process in assignment research. Not acknowledging the source of information is called plagiarism. Plagiarism is defined as taking, using, and passing off information as your own. It is a very bad thing to do and can result in your work being failed. The best way to stop this is to acknowledge people information in the end of a assignment with a bibliography.

APA Referencing System.

The APA or American Psychological Association is a system which you have to do these things:

• acknowledge your sources

• allow the reader to verify the data / information

• allow the reader to consult your sources independently

• show the reader the depth and breath of your reading

It also has to basic components that are:

1. The citation in the text of your writing to the source of the information

2. The reference list in alphabetical order
